Life Enrichment

At Sage Living, our care goes beyond medicine.

When you choose Sage Living, you choose a vibrant, expertly equipped, and compassion-filled community to support your loved one through this next stage of life. We follow the guiding principles of the Eden Alternative philosophy to combat the three plagues of the elderly—hopelessness, loneliness, and boredom—by providing easy access to companionship, connection, purpose, spontaneity, and the opportunity to give and contribute to our community.

From spontaneous sing-a-longs, and sunny bike rides through town, to cozy afternoons spent with our resident therapy dog or tending to veggies in the garden, every day at Sage Living holds potential for growth, surprise and joy. New experiences are part of life here.

Sage Living offers a unique mix of creative planned programs and spontaneous activities to help our senior living community members stay curious, keep active and continue learning. Our focus on individuality means we often create special, personalized experiences: that could look like a day spent fishing at the hatchery, an afternoon sight-seeing at the National Elk Refuge, a once-in-a-lifetime hunting trip, or something completely unique to your loved one. We invite community members to participate in activities as they desire, with a strong emphasis on empowering residents to make their own choices about how they want to spend their time.

More Life Enrichment Programs

Our experienced team is dedicated to creating an environment where each resident can thrive, feel secure, and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle. By prioritizing personalized care and support, we see that every individual receives the attention and resources necessary to enhance their well-being.

Cycling without Age

Life unfolds at all ages, young and old, and can be thrilling, fun, sad, beautiful and meaningful. Cycling Without Age is about letting people age in a positive context – fully aware of the opportunities that lie ahead when interacting in their local community.

Sage Living has partnered with Cycling Without Age to get our residents back outside in a fun and exciting way. Our tricycle, called ‘Betty’, is piloted by a volunteer and seats two participants. Residents can take a ride around town, over to the the National Elk Refuge, and beyond.

A ride on the Betty starts here:

Dining

Food is something to be enjoyed, and dining with others is a meaningful part of life. We invite you to dine with your loved one when you visit our community to experience our delicious options for yourself. Our daily offerings feature multiple hot and cold options, including snacks and meals outside of traditional times, available whenever your loved one has a craving. Like to sleep in?  Liberal mealtimes are offered to maximize choice and enjoyment, working with the resident’s rhythm and routine. Not hungry for a meal, but prefer a smoothie to start your day, instead?  Daytime room service is offered for convenience and preference. In addition, there are multiple dining rooms and spaces, ideal for sharing meals with families and friends or hosting a birthday celebration! Food is prepared in-house from our community kitchen using vegetables grown in our organic garden. In collaboration with a nutritionist, speech and occupational therapists, recommendations are made for safe and healthy dining, with nursing assistance available for eating support.

Art & Gardening

Art therapy addresses the entire mental health spectrum, allowing artistic processes and materials to improve the well-being of a participant's mind and body. In a group setting, Art therapy works to foster connection and support between one another, the ability to express and sublimate emotions that residents don’t always have words for. With the help of our onsite Art Therapist, neurosynapses can be rerouted to allow for memory recall, enabling a sense of pride and empowerment over their changing health. Beyond the enjoyment of expression, art continues to bring a sense of meaning and purpose to their lives.

Meanwhile, digging in the dirt, pulling weeds, planting seeds; gardening at Sage Living is more than just watering house plants. Our memory care neighborhood features a secured garden courtyard, giving residents the freedom to roam outdoors without fear of wandering away. Residents can sit on benches, walk a circular path, and enjoy the birds and flowers. They can even use the Vegepod, an indoor-outdoor mobile gardening pod designed for people who use wheelchairs.

Immediately outside of the secured garden is an impressive organic vegetable garden. We partner with Slow Food in the Tetons, and many wonderful volunteers, to help us harvest the large amount of produce (75 lb. our first summer!) to eat in our dining room, and for use in the cafe salad bar at St. John’s Health. Additionally, with the help of Teton Botanical Gardens and Teton Conservation District, we maintain a wheelchair accessible garden filled with locally native species.

Connecting with Community

Keeping our residents connected with community is integral to life at Sage Living. This comes in many forms, from visiting local attractions to inviting school groups to visit and music performances, residents have ample opportunity to feel connected.
